Handles and more tile

In an effort to have one more post this month than last....I offer a few more photos.

Our kitchen is so close I can taste it. Noticeable changes: we have handles. Look a bit closer and you'll see the door has trim too!

(someday we'll even take the plastic off the dishwasher and refrigerator).

On to the bathroom....mine, to be specific:

Remember, this is what it looked like when we bought it:

And, as of today:

Another view:

The bamboo flooring is still in boxes but it's screaming for some attention. Soon....very soon.

Tile!

The bathrooms are finally getting some tile! Check it out:

Scott's floor:

My bathtub area:

And, for a non-bathroom photo...my current favorite photo: The view in to the house via the windows we just uncovered and restored back to their original:

Enjoy your Thanksgiving holiday. No pictures this weekend since we'll be out of town. However, work will be happening in the bathrooms so I'll update early next week.

Two in a Row

We have some more progress! Including a hood in our kitchen.

Here's Ryan in the background (Mike in the foreground) working on it:

And here it is!!!

All of the cabinets have doors now and I think it's just beautiful:

Kitchen needs: counter tops, cook top, sink, hardware, kick plates, thresh holds, trim. And probably something I'm over looking. It's SO close though. WOW!

And those windows they covered up along the way are nearly restored to the original look.
1st the inside drywall removed:

And then the terrible siding on the outside removed:

Quick photos

The bathroom tile is now IN the house. Yes, it's delayed from my last post. But, now that it's inside...it's closer.

This is the flooring for the house....still in the box but not for long!

The wall of kitchen cabinets, sans handles. Maybe tomorrow the rest of the cabinets will have doors too! The lighting is done though. WooWoo!

Kitchen Floors

Since it's been pretty slow around the house I wanted to touch more on our AWESOME kitchen floors. We outfitted our kitchen and family room with marmoleum click tiles. I linked to a page that tells you all about marmoleum just in case you've not heard of it. We had not. Scott stumbled on it randomly while frantically searching for flooring options. The basics are:

Marmoleum is a natural product made from renewable resources: linseed oil, wood flour, pine rosin, natural pigments and a jute backing.

Marmoleum is naturally anti-static so it repels dust and dirt. A dry mop is best for cleaning, and spot cleaning with water as needed.

Marmoleum Click is also considered eco-friendly because it is very durable - you just won't have to replace it that often. It's considered "The 40 year floor".

Additionally, natural linoleum surfaces also feature antimicrobial properties that halt the breeding of harmful micro-organisms, including MRSA and C-difficile. Marmoleum is being used in hospitals because of this feature.

Those are just a few of the reasons why I love our kitchen floor! Ryan said he was impressed by the product as well and he installed it!

Pippet has been all over it chasing her toys with no scratch marks!

This is the color we chose:

This is the cork back of one of our tiles:

And the front:

And, a bit of a side note: Our fridge is in its proper kitchen location, as is our oven and microwave and it looks like a few doors are even up on the cabinets! I'm out of town for work so I can't be certain.

Rumor is the tile guy is underway in the bathrooms as well!!!

Still going....

A delay in writing due to a much needed trip away from construction. Scott and I drove East with our baby girl, Pippet, this weekend. It was her first vacation. A dog belongs on hiking trails!

While we were gone, Ryan worked on the house. He replaced the leaky garden window in the "her" bath and put our kitchen floor in (!!!!). Things will be slow moving the next few weeks as we didn't think our house would take so long and Ryan had another job scheduled. Today the dry wall guy was here sanding away, our friend has been painting the walls as we finish rooms (he'll be by tomorrow to finish up one of the bath walls) and our tile guy is aiming to hit the bathrooms by end of the week.

In the meantime, here are some new photos of the progress:

We put plastic up all through the house the morning before we left. It helped cut down on the dry wall dust in the rooms we are storing things and in the room we are living out of. This photo is the plastic we put up to keep the sun room from getting coated since we are storing several things in there:

We almost had an oven and microwave ready for use but something wasn't lining up correctly. Another trip to Ikea in our future to make it work. Here's Ryan and Mike trying with Scott looking on:

WE HAVE A FLOOOOOR!!! It looks dark gray in this photo but it's a blue/gray in real life.

Leaky garden window is gone:

New window is IN (That's Porter paints Antique Silver on the one wall in the bathroom. The wall without drywall will get tile.):
