The guest bath is now complete thanks to the hard work of my husband and Page Construction Services.

Hello, Old Friend

The snow is gone, spring flowers are popping up (what will they be?), we've ridded our garage of some furniture we no longer wanted and I have a mirror in my bathroom!

Absolutely stunning!!!

Another view (walking in to the room):

I now have a towel rack as well. Apologies for the bad iphone picture but it's easiest. Also, don't judge the 1 towel. I haven't even used this tub since the rack was installed. Maybe today calls for a bubble bath?

And, finally, a toilet paper holder. Living the life of luxury!

There is no way to take an interesting photo of the other things Ryan was able to cross off his list, however, the "bar" area now has a marmoleum floor to match the kitchen/family room area and the transitions from bamboo to marmoleum/marmoleum to marble are complete. He also added some trim above the fireplace.

Still no toilet in the "his" bath. Purchased one but the blue didn't match the original blue sink. Back to square one - trying to figure out how to make the original toilet work.

Still have walls to paint (sigh)and master bedroom furniture to buy as well. The next big round of remodeling will come when we re-do the hall bathroom, add the glass tile back splash in the kitchen, tear out the basement and remodel the walk-in closet.

Possibly today we'll hang the door on the "bar", maybe get serious about what shelves we'll hang in there so a few more boxes can be unpacked and, hopefully, we'll reorganize the garage.

I'll leave you with a photo of the tree which sets right outside our main window in our sun room. It's in the perfect location and is the backdrop for the whole room. It's just started to show it's Spring bloom:

Kitchen Pendant Light

It's been up for a while but I just realized I had not posted a photo. Isn't she pretty?

Scott found it on ebay, in London. It's a Fog and Morup design (Denmark). It had a black cord on it originally. Ryan swapped it out for the white one you see here. It'll be perfect once our orange back splash is up (we're thinking that will happen when the guest bathroom remodel happens, April-ish).

Please also notice - the trim is painted! YAY!

Coming soon (ie: when the purchases arrive) - photos of the vintage furniture Scott has been addicted to finding. If nothing else, at least it'll help us pick some wall colors!

Bathroom Fixtures

The bathroom fixtures went in tonight. No crazy remodeling stories to tell that we can laugh about later. Just several hours of work ending with running water in my bathroom and in Scott's.

First, Scott's shower with 3 sources - overhead rain, wand and the regular shower head:

My sweet looking faucet on my tub:

And, the tub....the beautiful tub:

Tomorrow will bring the cook top. Maybe some trim. Maybe a shower door. Maybe some bathroom vanities. The possibilities are endless now that the bathroom tile is FINALLY done.

Mostly just little things...

Mostly we've just had little things of great importance being done in order to prep for the drywall to go up next week (YAY!!!) Ryan (our GC) and Scott replaced a rotten support beam while I was at hot yoga class (hehehe). Big job. Much needed. Scott finished ripping out the drywall in the 80's bathroom. Ryan scooted around on his belly in the crawl space dragging cables and fixing duct work. I need to down load the pictures from his camera of our crawl space. The way the duct work looks will astound you. It's something else that just needs to be overhauled but it will have to wait. The plumber came around to move the toilet flange, set pipes in the proper position....and other little things I just don't know about. Oh! Someone removed the toilet flange from the front bathroom (the space we discovered used to be a bathroom - see previous post).

Just a few pictures to share. Scott began ripping out (the last?) the rest of the dry wall in the family room. It's hard to tell from the picture but, we discovered the windows in that room actually go all the way to the floor just as the windows in the big room.

This is what the windows look like on the outside:

This is what Scott found as he ripped away:

So, we can get rid of that weird siding and go BACK to the original design of FULL windows! I couldn't figure out why that damn siding was there. I'll be glad to see that go.

This is our dining room fixture which was added today. It came out of Scott's childhood home. He's carried it around with him all these years. We just need to replace a few bulbs.

I feel as though I need to start thinking paint colors. Send some ideas for the bedrooms!

We still have 1 bathroom intact

There wasn't much work done over the weekend. Our GC was busy and we hit an electrics snafu. Old house = old wiring = what does this switch operate? It's a current waiting game. Hope we can get the electrician out here Wednesday. He's a busy dude. Anyway, other than scrubbing the blue sink and pulling nails out of the wood where the ceiling used to be and another IKEA trip, we had a bit of a house break.

Which leads me to tell you about the bathroom we currently have....the only room in the WHOLE house which hasn't been touched (other than cleaned). Now, mind you, it needs some new tile and a new floor but in order for us to have a place to live, we had to leave one bathroom use-able. And, other than the squishy floor near the tub and the horrid vanity, it's darn glorious, with all original fixtures.

Check out this incredible shower head from 1959. I *LOVE* taking a shower because of this shower head:

I don't know if this angle gives you the best view of the shape of the spout, but it's darn cool!

You've seen the shots of our 1/2 moon Crane sinks, well, how about these awesome knobs on top of it? I mean, come on!

Yes, that's a gigantic medicine cabinet! So much storage!

Original lighting fixture:

Exhaust fan:

And, of course, most of you have seen the pictures of our Honeywell Tap-Lites. This one has a cracked plate. I've not been successful in finding additional plates for these and I need several (singles, doubles and triples). If you come across them, let me know!
